#18: Infant Mud

We’re back to our usual So. Cal. weather (instead of apocalyptic rain) and I’m trying not to rub it in. Truthfully, the sunshine gets a little old after a decade or two…

We hear dad messages today from Ben Gracewod from Gadgetophile.com, and Brian Pipa from the great new (and very short) podcast, Mostly Trivial, and I explain my favorite way to not look like a stalker at the playground. Let’s face it, real men can be the only guy at the park! Still, when you’re feeling a bit alone being a 21st Century “Action Dad,” you can check out Rebel Dad or Bad Soup, right?

Do you even listen to the music at the end of the show, or should I just save that energy for my “Old Wave Radio” podcast?

I play “Children of Iraq” by Arthur Bludgeon.

Thanks to (self described brunette) Nicole Simone of Useful Sounds for mentioning the GarageBand.com “radio license.” Now I can play all the songs I want, guilt free!

  1. Whoa dude, my voice message sounds like I’m talking at at 100 miles an hour with my head wedged between two pillows and stuck down a toilet bowl.

I know they say New Zealanders speak fast, but man I’ve gotta slow down a bit when recording. I’ll see if I can whip together a bit of a clearer audio comment 🙂

And yeah, it definitely takes a real man to deal with those morning-after-a-meat-dinner nappies!

  2. Dan,
Keep the tunes at the end. It’s a nice way to end the ‘cast and it gives us a chance to hear more good music; there’s just too darn much out there without someone occaisionally saying, “hey, try this…”

  3. Hi Dan,
I’m turning 26 by the end of this month, and it’s the first time I ‘write’ to a Podcaster.

I found your podcast from iTune and just finsihed Show #18. Never had I felt such strong need to write to a Podcaster. Your “real men” speech make my hairs stand up! You are my hero, and I don’t recall even making anyone my hero before.

If I even have the luck to have kid, I want to become this kind of dad. I’m going to subscribe to your podcast now, please keep up the good job.
