#48: Stockholm Syndrome

Is it love for your children, or merely Stockholm Syndrome? I’m not sure.

We talk about our great iTunes exposure, the Aug. 22 publication of “Podcast Solutions,” The Dan & Lance Podcast Experiment, NBC 4 podcasting story and the odyssey of the Honda audition.

Music by our friends The Human Value, from their upcoming album.

  1. Hey Dan!

Thanks for the mention. You made my day. So now, here’s a haiku just for you.

    I am most honored!

    Name like Fu-nny Guy.

P.S. As far as going to a hardware solution, I just picked up a very nice Tascam 8 track digital recorder/studio, model DP-01 FX and a pair of MXL mics. No more hard disk/system hiccups. Digital importing to computer is accomplished via USB. Of course, I don’t have an awesome ‘cast like yours- but the quality difference is so huge from what I’m using now, that I’m afraid to actually use it for my podcast for sake of consistancy with past shows. Am I high? Maybe. But that’s probably because I’M AN ADDICT! 😉

Take care and THANKS for a nice fix,

    Derek

  2. y’know ,that was one of the better news reports on podcasting. Of course, that GM from KCRW was just regurgitating what she heard some peon at her station tell her podcasting was. “It’s like TiVo for radio!”

  3. Danny —

You made me laugh out loud a number of times talking about the kids. And I nodded my head and smiled in COMPLETE AND TOTAL AGREEMENT (not to mention understanding and empathy) many, many more times. Thanks for the continued window into your world. Sitting here at home with some sort of viral thing… maybe pneumonia… but feeling better after a bitter pill dosage. Thanks, bro!

  4. Hey Dan,

I have to agree with you in the comments you made on this show, they are your kids but man they learn how to push your buttons.

Very immune to the words “No” and “Don’t”.

    Thanks for the “Fix” 😉

    Rob.

  5. Hey Dan,

I wanted to tell you that nothing is funny to me right now (ask Melissa), but I finally made the time to listen to The Bitterest Pill, and I wanted to thank you for making me laugh out loud. I always knew you were funny, but, this is pretty much genius.

    Thank you.

    Miranda

  6. Dan, you know I love you, but I about died during the news piece when they cut to you staring at the computer, rattling off podcast categories:

“Political, News, Sports, Entertainment … Shrimp-kabobs, boiled shrimp…” Klassic.

The icing, though, was when they brought it back to the studio and, after a moment of dumbfoundedness, the anchors said, “That’s actually very interesting!” Knobs.
