This time we talk about The Pocket Guide to Podcasting, Podcasting for Dummys, Podcast Solutions: The Complete Guide to Podcasting and Secrets of Podcasting. Damn you, Bart Farkas!
I hate MySpace fakes! MySpace is supposed to be about finding people who will accept you for who you are, not for finding people who will think you’re Philip Seymour Hoffman!
Love Liza was a dream come true. Keep dreaming, kids. Keep dreaming (sans migraine!).

Hmmm…wasn’t it EVIL Scott Farkas the red-headed bully of A Christmas Story fame that was pummeled so justly by young Ralphie? Is there a familial link here?
Yes, I too thought it was “Scott” Farkas (I took notice since that is my name), but, no, really it is SCUT Farkas. Wha? Yeah, I don’t know either. It’s not even a real name. Purely out of the mind of Jean Shepherd, apparently. I’d ask him, but he’s passed away…
I also had a roommate in college named Mike Farkas. Weird…
Dan,
Here is a link to your role as Officer Escort once again from Love Liza. It will give the listeners an idea of what you were talking about when you described the scene of not having a screen shot of the two of you together. Great episode.
Hey Dan,
From my knowledge, the cover of the Secrets of Podcasting is not Bart – Bob helped out with the book and apparently he doesn’t like the photo either!
But we may have met the actual guy in the photo at a recent Ottawa meet-up – check the photo here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/electricsky/92387255/
Great show, had me laughing in the car!

Scott, (not Scutt) Jean Shepard was a genius. He used to have a daily hour long show out of WOR in NYC every weeknight. I once wrote Dan and told him TBP had the ethos of Jean Shepard’s radio show. (I have a fond memory of Jean Sheppard giving me his autograph when I was in 5th grade — “To Beth, XXX, Jean Sheppard”. But I digress… )
If you haven’t read his book “Wanda Hickey’s Night of Golden Memories and other Disasters”, find a copy and read it. There’s a chapter in there about our hero and Scutt Farkas dualing with tops. Not to be missed.
Dan,
Wow, that was pretty cold to John Sebastian The Elder…
He was the lead singer of the Lovin’ Spoonful and performed at Woodstock and you refer to him at the guy who did the “Welcome Back Kotter” theme song? Where’s your sense of Rock & Roll history, man?
You’re showing your age Dane…these days John Sebastian is probably more famous with the younger generation for the Lovin’ Spoonful songs/covers that are showing up in movies (such as “Summer in the City” and “Do You Believe in Magic”) than for the “Welcome Back Kotter” theme song (unless you count the 2004 “Welcome Back” track by rapper Ma$e that sampled it).
On a more serious note (ha!), the movie title you couldn’t remember is “Malibu’s Most Wanted.”
Dane???
Trouble at the pancake house indeed…
Hey Dan,
I rented Love Liza a few days ago, just to get a good look at you!
It was so strange to see the voice to the body. And honestly, I expected to hear TBP music to start any second!
But that movie was BPC (before podcasting) of course…
We watched Love Liza last night, it’s powerful stuff and I’m still thinking about certain pieces from it this morning.
Dan, expect a question from Gail, who’ll be in the audience at LAPE, the question being “trouble at the pancake house?”. Yeah, she’s been quoting that for a couple of days now..
