#122: Please Don’t Break

dostoyevskyI hate having people in the house. I admit it. The moment they arrive, I want them to get the hell out. Not friends, but workers, cleaners, co-workers, etc. I am reduced to fetching toilet paper and cleaning products.

I woke up at midnight to the sounds of someone nearly choking to death, and found a kindred spirit in the writings of Dostoyevsky.

  1. Refuse to take part in the “Great hair, great car” culture of L.A.

It’s only a small amount of people that are like that anyway.

  2. i often have dreams about being back in school and being lost in the hallways. i’m either trying to find my locker or a classroom where i’m supposed to take a final exam that i havent properly studied for. even though i got out of college over 25 years ago, i still have these dreams.

yeah, the next town over from where you used to live.

  3. What is it with Americans and pancakes? I stomach them once a year, on Shrove Tuesday (or pancake day) – you say Fat Tuesday I think. Anyway, that’s all I can stand!

Also, and more importantly, I hope your daughter is OK Dan (sorry, I am a week behind if you say anything on the next podcast)

Been there, done it and have the T shirt! Hospitals are hilarious. The best thing we have here is, once you are admitted or even semi-admitted, getting out again is next to impossible – “we’ll just have to get a doctor to sign off” – like they are going to be around for the next X hours – look how long they took to come when my daughter was in an emergency!

You are right though, we do depend on these kind people. I’ve been admitted at deaths door and would not be here now but for the amazing help i had when I REALLY needed it.
