Well, as you may already know, the kids got a Wii from Santa this year. Wow, what fun. They are kicking my butt at EVERYTHING.
I ended up having the flu. The good news is that it was a 24 hour bug. The bad news is it was the 24 hours that we were travelling from LA to New York. Holy cow. At least I was well in a couple of days. We all were together to see the ball drop. Sort of.

Hey Dan, just listening now to the show.
I’m pleased for H and Princess T – the Wii is great for their ages. A couple of suggestions for games that my kids play and play and play (and I like too).
1. Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games – don’t be fooled, this is amazing fun. Was in our machine for 3 months solid last Christmas.
2. Ravin’Rabbids – the first one, not the second. Really funny and cunningly difficult sometimes.
3. Mario Kart – the best thing is the online play, where you can race random people in real time from all round the world, or just hook up a race with people you know.
I’d also recommend some of the games you can donload onto it, Mario 64 is one that’s great and cheap.
Have fun – I’ll e-mail you our Wii code so we can swop Mii’s.

I love the Wii also. Another great game you should try is Bloom Blox. Great for kids and and adults.
Kids always beat me at new video games these days. But bring out NES and I win.
Dan, I’ve had a desire to get a Wii festering for months now, and your podcast helped push me into “yes, I’m buying one” mode. You might not be surprised to know that post-Christmas availability is not much better than when you were scrambling to get yours. I have to say, finding one at a decent price (i.e., not the 50-60% markup these fly-by-night third party sellers on Amazon offer) became an all-consuming quest. But I guess that’s why I’m a good candidate for Wii-addiction, right? I’m easily obsessed. But, I finally found one during the three hour window it was in stock in a neighborhood store. Just in time for a long cold weekend of hanging out inside and playing playing playing.
Thanks for inspiring me! Maybe I’ll someday feel strong enough in my boxing skills to challenge your kids.
Hi Dan; The wii is a lot of fun, but I am like you or perhaps even worse because I cannot get the hang of it and the kids are ‘really’ kicking my butt. It is shameful. I think next time I am going to give them something I can win at.
May be a George Forman and challenge them to cook. ha ha.

Sickness before the trip. That really takes me back a few years. I got food poisoning on the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL having lunch with MY DAUGHTER. I was sooo sick. (Please don’t puke, please don’t puke) My husband, trying to be sensitive in that what the hell are you thinking kind of way, said he would take the kids to DISNEY by HIMSELF. Are you kidding me?! I got to sit in a rented mini-van for 8 hours thinking the please don’t puke song. Walking around a few days later in the heat also made quite an impression on me. It was so magical. I wanted to strangle Mickey at the special morning breakfast.
