#230: The Red Curtain Hangs Down

I got the HBO job.  Apparently I was hired by the hottest director in commercials.  Not bad.  That was Monday.  I had an audition Tuesday and came back to get into my car but it wasn’t there.  Oh.  So, let’s get this straight: my car is gone, my kids need to be picked up at school and my house keys are in the car.  Great.  Luckily, my friend Tim was available to pick me up and take me to the Santa Monica Police Department.  They didn’t have my car.  So, now what?

PREMIUM EDITION: Over an hour.
FREE EDITION: Forty-one minutes

  1. Well done on the HBO job Dan – I think you are on a roll now. GREAT story about the car – I can totally see myself doing the same thing. And what is it with those parking signs. It’s almost like they were designed specifically to confuse…

Oh, and they pull the teacher training day crap here too all the time – as if there wasn’t time in the 6 weeks of summer break and the 2 weeks easter break etc!

  2. My favorite Teacher Day is when we are off for two weeks at Christmas and the kids go back to school on Tuesday because teachers need a day after the holidays to get ready for the kids to come back. Um yeah – how about going back on the Friday before and the kids come back on Monday? My sister is a teacher and we have this argument every year.

Congrats on the HBO gig. As for losing the car it is probably your brain on overload because it cannot believe its good fortune with the job and auditions. You have to train it to accept some wins.
