Do you think I should worry that my kids go to school in an official tsunami danger zone? By the time the Japanese tsunami got to California, it was only a couple feet high. My house is in no danger, but the wave would take out my kids’ school, a large marina, and The Home Depot.
We decided we’d throw a party for Hudson’s 12th birthday. Which meant we’d need to paint a couple walls and fences out in the backyard, and put down something on the flat area where the weeds grow. Degenerated granite or decomposed granite or de-evolved granite. I don’t know what it’s called. We put down gravel instead anyway.

Dan – you are good father. I am so glad to see I am not the only parent with the “Steer That Boat Away Captain” outlook. Your birthday activity idea rocked. Scavenger hunt in togos – urgh. I think you remember vividly being his age and that will help him loads.
As for color – no way no how would I spend that much time on the paint colors. I like things to look nice do not get me wrong. However, in my color estimation whites go with anything. So M. should have taken one outing to the store (I know she is a busy lady) to look at some gray chips, pick one out and ditch the extra work for you. My husband would have popped a vein if he had to go through that.
