242: The Bully Brigade

My daughter got slapped in the face at school by one of her friends.  Then, the next day, a couple of boys tried to test her karate skills by punching and kicking her.  Of course, this is the same day that my father sent me the YouTube video of the tiny Australian bully who got body slammed by his much larger victim.  After seeing the video I was tempted to unleash my daughter on anyone who messes with her.

Of course, this is dangerous stuff, and you can’t have kids going around body slamming each other.  At least not here in American.  What I find fascinating, however, is the concern (by attorneys)  that if the school didn’t punish the bullied kid as well as the bully, it would establish body slamming as the Rule of Law in the school.  Then, from then on, bullies would be open to being body slammed every time they punched a kid a couple times in the face.  And the attorneys are talking like this is a bad thing.  Don’t you think that, if the bullies thought there was a real danger of being tossed into the concrete every time they picked on someone, there would be a decline in bullying?  Yeah, me too.

My son is the most brilliant kid I know.  He also has rocks in his backpack.  I don’t know why.  I think it is just to infuriate me.

Luckily for all of us, there is now an allergy medication that you CAN take with orange juice.

PREMIUM VERSION: 45 min, maybe 50?

  1. First of all tell T one of your listeners is very proud of her. Turning the cheek is not just a Christian concept – it is really hard and a testament to how strong you can be when you actually have the power. (Bruce Banner – Don’t make me angry, you wouldn’t like me if I get angry.) That being said, I understand your feeling of unleashing the Tazmanian Devil inside of her. You know she could have kicked the crap out of Little Stevie and the other kid – and that is a Pay for View I would actually pay for. We don’t want justice doled out to bullies at school? Well, for example, if the Australian school is going to turn a blind eye and cover its arse than why not the victims’ defend themselves? That big kid turned the other cheek a few times and had enough. It reminds me of the classic moment in A Christmas Story where Ralphie had it with Skut Farkis and wailed on him while spewing expletives. Sometimes enough is enough. (By the way I hope WWF was looking because that big kid has a very promising career ahead of him!)

Little Stevie’s mom needs to wake up. Everyone is so worried about their reputation. I guess you finally are mature when you really don’t give a hey what most people think. I am a stay-at-home mom. I might as well sign my checks as So-and-So’s Mom and So-and-So’s Wife. I am the backstage support staff that allows this family to succeed and I am truly ok with that. Parent your kid and maybe the good reputation will follow. She is lucky Melissa didn’t go over there and body slam her to the ground.

  2. Hmmm I also faced these kind of behavior in my school time. I also want to say that these kind of activities are really dangerous. I think teachers have to be a bit more careful.

  3. Not seen that video until now – thought he could have shaped up for a Batista Bomb at least, but I’d say it was more like a good power slam by Triple H!

Seriously, bullying sucks, I had a little of it when younger but you know what, it is going to happen when you put all these kids with their growing hormones together – the strong have ALWAYS and always will look to dominate the weak, or perceived weak. I have the same issue about unleashing the tirade that is my beautiful 6 year old. Even her 8 year old brother stupidly tries to goad her and she is just plain vicious when she wants to be, but soooo cute.

Had to laugh at the Zirtek/OJ thing – more so really at what you can get away with claiming medically on ads, that would just be banned here. And you pay a terrible financial price for all this advertising spend in the USA – I bet your version of Zirtek is circa 70% more than here.

Finally, there is an improvement Dan in the guitar playing – keep at it!
