#280: Politics and Religion

Not as heady a podcast as the title might suggest.  Actually, I talk more about NOT talking about politics and religion than I do talking about politics and religion.  I think if we talked less about our differing views of politics and religion and more about our common desire to get through this life peacefully, we’d all be much better off.

And, no, I don’t think my son is being recruited into a sleeper cell.

Hudson had a sleepover and I had a Guinness.  Not a fair trade or a good idea.  Guinness makes me sleepy.  Nothing makes 13 year old boys at a sleepover sleepy.  Especially gallons and gallons of Sprite.

  1. I agree that we tend to let our views divide us. I have struggled so much to do the right things in this life I tend to try not to judge others too much and just live peacefully. (Notice that I say TRY.) However, with the overall mood in the country these days it is harder and harder. People are more tense, traffic is worse (even with higher gas prices), tempers flare, people are still out of work and the Republicans give us a load of *&%$ for electing and our other option is to keep the current clown. Sigh. Now I know why I feel like I have road rage even when I am walking!

I am assuming for as long as I have been listening that you lean into the agnostic point of view. To question means you are always still learning and that is a good thing. What you learn is up to you – and I am not suggesting where you must fall on this debate. I don’t listen to you because of your religious views. I listen to you because I relate to your everyday trials and you make me laugh when I am doing the worst of chores yet keep them from feeling mundane. Thank you. That being said – not loving the pic for this podcast. Guess that tells you what I am right? I am not saying you should change it. What you place there is up to you and if I do not like it I am free to walk, right? However, I like my family photos and would not love it if I walked in a room and someone drew mustaches on them. In the similar thinking it is like that.

Off of that. When is the next Pillbox? When my computer died I lost all my episodes. I have Pillbox One and Two and I need to fill it back in brother! I miss the flip flop grocery store podcast I used to have!

  2. Now if you want eye watering gas prices RZ, try here. You don’t know how lucky you are. Now about $10 a gallon here. Good job we bother to make cars with a rasonable MPG, but even so, it is crippling!

  3. Just a quick observation. You have no left wing politicians in America, not even close to what we would call the left. The system is set up, it seems to me, to move from one right winger to another, as they have cooked the process now so the barriers to a third choice are so difficult and expensive, it is near impossible. After Perot, that spooked them and they vowed never again would that happen. Look what happened to Mr “I’ll close Guantanamo”.
