  1. Last Summer we took the kids to the OC Fair. They both ‘won’ Betta fish. We manged to keep them alive until last Christmas. One leaped out of the bowl to his death on the carpet. I wrapped and tossed the little guy. Drove to Pet Smart and bought a replica of the now deceased dare devil dead Betta. My 8-year-old never missed a beat and never knew.

I say this because I did share with him the sad news of his first Betta years back that died. My son cried for days. It was a learning/grieving period that I chose not to relive. If a fish does pass, buy another one. Your kids will believe that they had have the record for longest living goldfish/Betta. Once day when ‘H’ emails the Guiness Book folk and they come knocking at the door to see this miraculous fish, you have another material for a great show. Just sayin’.

  2. Hey Dan–I loved this particular podcast because I listened to I right after I came home from the podiatrist, where I had my feet cast(ed?) for custom orthotics. Sometimes I think I’m the female version of you. (And yes, I have bifocals.) Keep up the good work and give your feet a rest! –Ann
