#226: Don’t Shanghai my Laptop, Potato Bugs!

bug_thing

There are some crazy critters lurching around at night.  I am very curious about where they spend their time during the day.   If I only occasionally see a potato bug, where are they when I DON’T see them?  Under the house?  In the house?  Hanging out in the dark with the opossums?

I finally got a new laptop.  Well, let’s be clear: I ordered a laptop and I paid for a laptop. There was some question for a while there about whether or not I would actually RECEIVE a laptop…

PREMIUM EDITION: A bit over an hour, I think.
FREE EDITION: TBD

  1. I have never seen potato bugs with legs like that! Ewww! BTW, Glad you call ’em potato bugs. 😉 Out here in NC they call em “pill bugs”, oh wait, wouldn’t that be more appropriate for you?! lol!

  2. Wow, that’s a big bug – you can say all you like about our climate etc here, but we don’t get shit like this!

As a (UK) sales tax guy, I think the issue is the one that impacts Amazon with their affiliate payments – Apple has a store presence in, I imagine, most major USA states, so therefore they have a taxable place of belonging in those states, so have to pay sales tax in those states if a customer there buys a mac etc. I believe the usual rule about buying from out of state still applies generally, but not to Apple. What do I know though – I only know about UK sales taxes (VAT)!!

Another idea is, would Hudson qualify yet for a student discount if you bought a macbook (pro I assume) for him?
