Looking over the many lunch choices from the kids’ school’s new caterer. Let me see, should I order my children the “Crispy Asian Lettuce Wraps With Chicken” or the “Local & Organic Special Free-Range Roasted Chicken, Fingerling Potatoes And Spring Vegetables?” “Organic Jam and Sunflower Butter Sandwiches” or the “Seared Tofu Teriyaki With White Rice?” It all sounds delicious, but I feel like I should order something for them they might actually eat…
We went to San Francisco for the weekend. We took the dog. I didn’t bring the right pee-pee pads and let me daughter get sunburn on her cheeks. Oh, no. So, even though we were in San Francisco, I was actually in the dog house. Don’t worry, I’m there so much I keep a spare toothbrush in there, just in case.
The article is very interesting and I learned new things.
Dan I just thought I would mention something. You always talk about waiting to the last minute for Christmas and how fast time goes by. Hey Dan – 4 months or 15 wks goes by REALLY fast when you are our age. Make a list and start getting things for people once a week and you maybe will be done – gasp – early. Also you are spreading the cost out. C’mon – you are at Target all the time looking at Pilates bodies – buy a gift. lol Could you hide stuff in the studio?
By the way I know you are reading this and thinking what a ridiculous idea.
RZ, you’re on to something. No, I actually think it’s a great idea. Every year I swear I’m gonna get done by Halloween, but they we get so wrapped up in preparing for Halloween, the next thing I know it’s Dec. 20th…
Now that I go to the Target in Culver City, there are fewer Pilates Bodies. Very different vibe. Not lesser, just different. 🙂
Ok, so my above comments were for BEFORE I heard the podcast. All I can say is – You Are a Good Man Dan Klass.
Wow, I go on holiday for a week and it all comes apart! A week away with my own control freak too – I have a condo in the dog house! We took our dog with us actually, so i guess that was my first thought – why couldn’t you and the kids go sightseeing with the dog?
Oh man, I really feel for you Dan. I’m no expert, but I think the attitude of your wife is possibly a reaction to her feeling guilty for being away from home and presumably busy when she is, and more deeply, because she feels that she has pretty much 100% of the responsibility financially for keeping it all together. She seems to have emasculated you, or reverted to a state of mind where she sees you as a 3rd child and needs to control you, because she feels so out of control herself. You said before that her job could pretty much go at any time, especially dealing with those German bastards and that must be really stressful.
Correct me if I am wrong, but you are extremely unlikely to go out into the job market and start a new career. Maybe you do need to take that big leap to take some of the pressure off. you’ve a lot to offer i am sure.
Laughed out loud about that school menu. I don’t even know what fingerling potatoes are, but it sounds like it might get you in serious trouble!
Keep it together dan. We all think you’re great.
best wishes
