#272: Vertigo-go

Yesterday my daughter was late to her Martin Luther King Jr. assembly because I’d killed the car.  In the panic of seeing a possum in the driveway the size of a Rottweiler, I must have left the lights of the car on all night and drained the battery.  Fan-stinking-tastic.

Turns out that someone made a copy of my Amex card and was buying $50 worth of gas everyday for the last five days before Christmas.  Happy Holidays!  Luckily, American Express jumped right on it.  Sort of.

The hyper-realistic socio-political work of artist Maurizio Cattelan made me sick.  Well, no, walking around and around the work of hyper-realistic socio-political work of artist Maurizio Cattelan made me sick. As we got higher and higher in the spiral of the Guggenheim, the hairy hand of vertigo gripped my face, attempting to pull me over the edge…

  1. Dan,

Congrats on the ancestry.com spot. We’ll keep an eye out for it when skipping through commercials. Oh, and “Perry, you’re a dead man!”

    Still on the pill.

  2. OMG! Totally off topic – but I think I just saw you on an ancestry.com commercial!! I would recognise that voice anywhere! GO DAN! (by the way – bald is sexy!!)

  3. Jackie, glad you saw it. And, yes, I am extremely sexy. To a very small number of fetishists…

Is that comment from “conference merchandise” the most fabulously human sounding spam or what?!?!

  4. Thanks for the show Dan. You always ask what we are doing while we listen. I was taking care of a 13 yr old with s NASTY stomach virus and between rounds of illness and laundry I listened to keep my sanity. Dude – make sure to wash you hands just in case I transferred to you just by listening. I wouldn’t put in past this thing to be that nasty. Took out half her small private school. I think I may have third degree chemical burns from all the anitbacterial wipes and Lysol I used in my house to keep the other three of us well.

  5. P.S. conference merchandise was SO convincing in their comment that I may just have to click on their link – NOT.

  6. Wow, I am SOOOOO far behind (that’s what a 30 hour audiobook will do to your podcast habits (11.22.63 – Stephen King)).

I sure hope that your wife finds another role Dan.

I won’t read comments on the rest of the podcasts, need to get caught up, before I start the next audiobook – David Copperfield, all 35 hours of it!

  7. I am a big big fan of Maurizio Cattelan.Cattelan’s art makes fun of various systems of order ,be it social niceties or his regular digs at the art world. He often utilises themes and motifs from art of the past and other cultural sectors in order to get his point across.
