So, seriously, what’s so great about Brador beer and Snicker toupees?
This time: iTunes, Brador treks, Snicker toupees, Podcast Solutions, podcast recommendations, and being “American” in England.
Podcast Recommendations: “The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd,” and “Cush: Things I Say.”
Thanks to the Dave and Gary of Chub Creek for the song! Canadians are funny. Must be the Brador…

Hey Dan!
As per your request, I want to let you know that I listened to today’s ep while driving down the 101 from The City (SF) to my job in Silicon Valley.
Love the show. Thanks for not eating while you record.

My first listen I LOVE YOUR SHOW tell hudson i said hi and good luck with school
Dan,
Another Great Show…
When you were describing “running away” from the grocery store…classic! I think every kid has gotten “scared” in situation just like that, at least once, and just bolted. Keep it up.

Beer with lemonade is Shandy not shanti, Just FYI.
The stuff in shops you will have bought has good as no Beer in a Pub it would normally be half of each.

You make me feel tingly all over. Truth be told, it’s a little uncomfortable. When can I cross promote?
My name is dary and I am from Canad “i”a
spoof on canadian beer commercial. I personally love the work Canadia so keep using it. Loved the show by the way.
Genny Scream Ale.. you are a brave man my friend. My friends and I always went for the Genny Light as that you could see through so you knew it was not Genesee River Water (that stuff you can’t see through it is so filthy). At least that’s what we drank when young and buying from Coops’ underage
Great show! I think its now safe to say after a bit of down time Dan Klass is back on the scene! 🙂
I was actually suprised to hear that the whole knife/fork together thing was not part of US culture. I live in Australia and I had always assumed that was universal convention (at least in western culture).
Dear Dan
It’s 3.30 am in the morning here in Paris and I just finished listening to your show. Yep, you sure do have class.
Kind regards
Taupe (British, some time shanti drinker)
Dan,
Long time; first time.
Growing up in Detroit, I can relate to your boarder crossings. Heck, every once and a while I will still drive over to Windsor and buy a few cases of Molson Brador, John Labatt Classic and OV. I’d be happy to send you a six pack if you like to remind you of the old days.

like Wah?
I’m another listener in the SF Bay Area, but not driving–in true Bay Area form, I get around by bike.
Great show!
Hey Dan, I’m not in SF itself, but listening down in Silicon Valley. Looks like you’ll be visiting soon for the BayCHI meeting in September, looking forward to it.
It was shandy. And yes it is quite tasty. I’m an expat in the UK listening faithfully. I like the UK stories.
Hey Dan,
Haven’t heard the bitterest pill on the radio feeds, but i am fortunate enough to catch your Old Wave Radio cast on KYOU up here in the bay area.
love both of your shows (OWR and TBP). Between you and Lance (and the consortium of ‘the bitterest fringe’- much better than the ‘verge of the pill’ if my vote counts – you’ve both gotten me hooked onto podcasting, so much so that i’ve finally going to have to bite the bullet and figure out which portable device to rip the shows onto as i;ve been blowing through a stack of CDs burned so that i could play on the car stereo.
keep up the great work – any chance for a 50th show retrospective like the tartan podcast?

Hi Dan,
We listened to part of the show on Sunday on our way up to the Giant’s game in SBC Park. I was with my boys and were hoping Hudson might provide his opinion on our show.
Love the show – miss Hudson – good luck on the next Snickers opportunity.

I, too, lived in Rochester during the early and mid 80s and have many memories, some of them good even, of piling into pickup trucks and parents’ borrowed sedans to make the trek up North to buy many brands of beer, the premium of which was indeed, Brador. And if I recall, the main reason had to due with the more liberal Canadian laws pertaining to alcohol content. American beer had one half the alcohol of Canadian beer. And of the Canadian beers, Brador had the highest concentration of alcohol, 6 point something percent, I believe.
But truth be told, it was really just an excuse to skip class, get stoned and leave town.
Scribbles From L.A.
Things I have in common with Mssr. Klass:
I live in Los Angeles. Grew up in Upstate New York (near Lake George). Did time in Rochester (RIT Class of ’84). Spent time in the UK; barman in Gairloch, Scotland. Shandy is 1/2 lager, 1/2 Lemonade. This is Euro-Lemonade which has more in common with Sprite than Newman’s Own. Brador was famous for its higher alcohol content- more buzz for the Canadia-n buck. Genny Screamer kegs were the rage at RIT (on campus) frat parties, that and smuggled grain alcohol punch.
Cheers, mate.
I listened to the show for the first time this morning on a train between Pontypridd and Cardiff here in Wales, UK. Its not SF but we’ve got more sheep 🙂
Man, remember your first fans. I was there back in the day 😛 Late 2004, I was listening!
Hey, if you want some more music suggestions, I’m gonna shamelessly plug my own site, TheBjam.Com or check out SongFight.Org. Some of the better songs are ‘Frannie’, ‘Save New Orleans'(written about Hurricane Katrina), ‘Method of Delivery’, and ‘One Less’.
Shameless plugging. 🙁 But I love the show. Keep recording!

Dan, I *luv* your career. Anyone who can boast about losing the opportunity to wear a Snickers toupee is tops in my book!

I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and I was in high school when brador was introduced. We were all thrilled because brador was 6.5% alcohol compared to 5% for regular beers. That is we were thrilled until we actually tasted it. Then we mostly went back to whatever we were drinking previously, cause brador sucked!
Thanks for sharing
