The Bandwidth Blues…

Some of you may soon notice that most older shows are not available at the moment. Well, I just got hit with a HUGE overage bill from my host. You see, I seem to lose sight of the fact that the audience of the show has doubled in the last three months or so…My bad.

Anyway, I’ve had to rip everything down (but the three most recent shows) until I can get a new host set up.

The charges are unreal. If you can help in anyway to Buy Back the Bandwidth, please make a donation by clicking the button to the right. THANK YOU.

  1. Dan,

You’re still paying for bandwidth? Um…Why?

Libsyn.com = $10 a month for 250MG of space and no bandwidth charges.

I know that sounds like a plug, and well, it sort of is. But we’ve been using them for the Rosary Army Podcast for months and they’ve been tremendous. I’ve never once paid more than $10 a month, no matter how many times a show is downloaded.

  2. It’s just a thought but rather than have people donate, why not have Google AdSense on your blog and invite people to check out the ads?

With your traffic I’m certain you could generate a reasonable income from the ads.

  3. The mystifying thing is…my three or four latest shows are all ON LibSyn. It was the bandwidth of old shows (maybe 10 or 20?) that was killing me. I’m sticking for Libsyn, believe me. All the non-LibSyn shows are down until they can be moved over.

They go down every once in a while, but they always work it out immediately. I’m a fan.

    THANKS for the heads up.

ps: Paolo, good idea. I’ll look into it…

  4. Here we go again…

One of the Google ads reads “pill.”

I clicked it and was shown a large list of ads for pill splitters, pill bottles, and various prescription and non-prescription medications.

Maybe you should actually do a “Pill” about “pills.” That’d really throw a spanner in the works.

  5. Dan,

You are a victim of your own success. I one to the people who caused a bit of your issue. I enjoyed the shows so much, I downloaded a select few of your older ones. I was slowly doing your back catalog.

As a parent of three girls (7 months, 6 & 7) and working at a home office, I can relate to many of your child rearing issues.

Keep up the EXCELLENT show. I will be tuning in.

PS. I do own a mini van by necessity but no stick figures.

  6. Hey Dan!

I’d gladly donate to the cause, but the link has an error on it.

Also, my podcasting equipment is coming in the mail soon… so hopefully I’ll be up and running in the next week or two, and the GeekPastor podcast will soon make a debut!

    Thanks!

  7. Mr. Klass,

I am more than happy to help. I was just wondering about how I missed your show and was about to victimize you by sending you another uplifting poorly-written haiku. …After all, I’m supposed to be one of your “Spiritual Advisors”, right? Anyway- It pleases me to help out in any way and wish I could do more. Please do not feel bad for asking- I’m PROUD to contribute to what I believe to be one of the best podcasts out there. Please keep up the good work. It’s always a pleasure to see my “Pill” waiting for my hungry ears to devour.
