#130: Wax On, Eight Days a Week

Karate Man

This seems to be an episode in three parts. In part one, I can’t find my checks. Not my check book, my checks. As in, 2 entire, brand new boxes of check books. I’ve looked everywhere. And, I hate writing checks to begin with…

In part two I end up finally making it to my son’s recorder recital where I expect them to massacre The Beatles while dancing in faux Japanese bath robes.

In part three we find a martial arts school to send the kids to, and get a call from a runner up. I forgot to mention that Melissa told him the kids are going to study karate, not taekwondo. Just like their dear old dad…

Parts One and Two were recorded live in front of an internet audience. Join us next Saturday, May 3rd at 9pm PST (remember, I’m at LAX) for the next live recording and chat.
This episode is available only to Premium Pill subscribers.

  1. Hey Dan, Love the show. I too am a stay at home dad, sort of. I only work on the weekends so I have the privilege of driving kids around, doing laundry, preparing meals, cleaning the house, etc. throughout the week. So I hear ya brother. I’m also a doctor and work the ER at a small hospital on weekends. The reason I wear my scrubs around town if I have to run out for a while, is that people will complain about anything. Especially if they find out they had to wait to be seen for their runny nose because the Dr. was changing clothes. I have stories. Email me if you’d like the inside scoop of how the medical system really works behind the scenes.

  2. Hi Dan!
Loved the last show. But I have to wonder about a thing. Do you avtuallt still use checks in the US or are you kidding? And I don’t mean you specifically by that, but more the nation at large. I can vagely remember a time, about 15 years ago when we did so too and it took hours and hours of work getting those done.
After that came the Internet. Heard of it perhaps? 😀 Today we do all our banking online and I can’t see why US of A hasn’t adopted this technology. You are the world leaders, right?!
A few years back we would still get paper invoices in the mail, but today most invoices come electronically, right into our online banking system, and all we have to do is accept or deny (with a few other options available too) and it’s so easy. Doing the bills each month takes about 10 minutes and is no pain any more. We can even set the system to automatically pay reccuring bills. VIOLA!
You should ask your bank why they don’t offer this service, because I assume they don’t, since you – being the internet hacker that you are – surely would have used that service otherwise.

This was just a reflection on your last show. Maybe something you want to use on the show, maybe not. Maybe a comment that you will just delete. Either way it was a good show and it gave me quite a few laughs!

  3. I asked Dan too about online banking. Surely they use this in the USA?

Regarding the doctor wearing scrubs all the time, I wonder whether he is a doctor, or whether he is on some kind of a Frank Abagnale trip, you know, pretending to a doctor for the chicks or the trip or to just smooth the way, so to speak, as you go round? I bet you can create a few favourable situations wearing scrubs, you know, go to the front of the line here, ask a favour there and so on.

I think you should front him out and see if he is a doctor. Maybe feint in front of him and see what he does?

  4. I am curious to call the number. Free lessons wuld be nice. I can see the fear in his eyes… I mean the fear he puts in others eyes. That hand looks really strong. I shall make the call.
