Giggling Hudson is back, with the tale of his awesome sister’s tough day earning her yellow belt in karate and making it through a dance recital with grace, all while battling some sort of fever/flu/stomach thing. She is, again, a trooper and an inspiration.
We also discuss velcro karate belts, Obi Wan’s master and much more, all in the sweltering heat of the now air conditioningless Studio G.

1. Warwick Davis. Also in Willow and the new Narnia movie
2. I think that guy was teasing Melissa about the velcro. No-one teaching karate would countenance such an article.
3. Are all American kids of 9 like that? Hudson also sounds amazingly like Elliott from ET.
4. Only 50% of a Star Wars geek. I’ll take it easy because he is a child, but how can anyone call themselves a Star Wars geek without watching all the movies?! Dan, in not introducing Hudson to to 1,2 and 3, you have failed somewhat. Sorry.

Re: Velco Karate Belts – I didn’t believe it myself…actually, they’re quite inexpensive…
You can get them on ebay
Re: Star Wars “1, 2 &3” – For a while I probably actively discouraged H watching them since a) I am old enough to be VERY biased toward the original three, b) I’m not sure they are appropriate for H, or at least weren’t until recently, and c) I hate Jar Jar and don’t want him in the house…
I haven’t seen all of 2 or any of 3. Lost my interest after the Jar Jar/little Darth movie. I also miss the visual simplicity of the 70/80’s version of space, vs. the we-can-do-anything-with-CGI gluttony of the newer ones.
We will surely have a 1-2-3 marathon this summer.
Re: American 9 year olds – like what, exactly? I assume the answer is no. And, yes. Strange for me to think that we moved to England when I was just slightly older than he is now…wow…
Hi Dan
I meant, so confident, particularly in front of the mic. He’ll go a long way!
Re: Star Wars. I hear this a lot about Episodes 1 to 3 but really, the guy was on a hiding to nothing from the fans of Episodes 4 to 6, but I really think he did a mostly great job and it is wrong in my opinion to write off 3 movies because of one annoying character. Ewan McGreggor is totally credible as Obi Wan as is The Prince of Darkness himself as Count Dooku and Natalie Portman is great and hot too. And Sam Jackson as Mace Windu – man, if Sam the man with that purple lightsabre laying some smackdown on Jango Fett doesn’t float your Star Wars boat, nothing will! I love all 6 movies, Clone Wars cartoons, Star Wars Lego games, you name it.
A world without George Lucas would be a world without Indy and Pixar. Imagine that. I mean, what’s the guy got to do – the Star Wars films are HIS creation and he can do what he likes with them, without a minority of living-in-the-past executive producers. The world has moved on too since 1977. The vast, vast majority of people love what he has done, so why would he change? – look at the box office receipts and on-sales.
May the force be with you, Hudson, Melissa and Tallulah!!
Love the show 🙂

Dan, outstanding episode. Great job. The heat making you two loopy had me laughing out loud multiple times. Great episode. You’ve got a funny boy there!
Dan,
You guys make a great team.
Hudson takes after his dad.
If you don’t get ‘the big break’ Hudson surely will (if he follows a similar direction in life).
You should be very ‘proud’ (pleased, as opposed to ‘puffed up’).
A wonderful Pill.
We listened to this on the way to pick up Judy’s new Smart Car.
Brilliant!
Cheers!
