A couple of tales from my days in Rochester, NY, in my post-high school years. First, the story of building a raft with several of the smartest guys I know for the annual raft race. Then, my one act of spontaneity, on the 4th of July.
As a side note, at one point I say that I did something after my freshman year of high school, but I actually meant college. I didn’t have a roommate in high school…
Also, names have been removed to protect the…innocent. Sorry for the annoying reverse-thing. Maybe next time I’ll use dog barks or something.
Do they still have the raft race in Rochester? It was a big annual event back in the late 70s/early 80s, I think sponsored by WCMF, the classic rock station. I can’t find info on it on the web…
Thanks to Henry Herman for the great outro/plug/etc.

Fanny — perfect timing. I’m heading up to Ra-cha-cha this weekend to vist Jeff et al. I can subject the kids to your musings over Rochester past on our roadtrip there.
Happy 4th of July to you Dan. I don’t actually think the way the USA has handled Independence has gone that well. Think of all the proper tea, decent beers and ciders, manners, class, music, dress sense and our unique sense of humour that your country lost! 🙂
Hey Dan, the show only downloaded as 12:07 from iTunes…it ended just as it was getting interesting!
Would you just say it? 🙂
awesome show
Dan, in Rochester now a Jeff’s computer. Just finished off some Abbott’s….mmmm…Abbott’s….
Rochester: CIty of Quality (Frozen Custard)
Why did I think Abbott’s was gone?
Send my love to Fairport.
Fairport wants you to get your shots first.
Abbott’s is still thriving…J claims there are 5-6 of them. Frozen, creamy, crack…without the complications of adding to one’s rap sheet.
