Please don’t make me go to any more school meetings. They always last just long enough for another parent to prove that they are an idiot.
You have to decide: is it more important for parenting to be easy for you, or for your child’s upbringing to help them become a self sufficient adult? Should you avoid having to say “no,” or should you view each “no” as an opportunity to teach your child priorities/self control/money management?
If you child faces challenges while under your care, they will be more capable to face challenges when they’re not.

Im not a parent but i can understand because my cousin is now going through that stage. But i can say that i think it is better being a parent to your kid instead of having them start from scratch and teaching themselves how to be an adult.

This highlights how this issue is being looked at by societies who like to treat us like children and I fear your school head (they always have been that here) might be doing the same. The number one reason my children don’t invite all of their classmates to their party is because the other kid has appalling behaviour or has attacked them or something. Or because they just don’t get on. It’s a free society and if we don’t let our children make choices as to who they want to be friends, are we not raising show dogs?
And it really makes me mad when I hear schools say kids should not watch any TV or play any games in the school week. Just thinking of my son (5), he is doing really well at school, does his homework etc and I think playing the odd game for a short timehas helped his fine motor skills. Example, Star Wars Lego – amazing for problem solving. Wii Sports – great too and it gets them up off their asses. Some TV is great – a little Scooby Doo didn’t do me any harm and it won’t do my kids any harm.
Remember, these are the same sadists who book INSET” days during your working week.
I did the minimum amount of homework from prep to Year 12, although I made the most of my school hours, and enjoyed my favourite shows on TV as a kid. We didn’t have any computer games at that point but I don’t think it would have been an issue. I’m now doing my PhD and wouldn’t stop my kids doing any of that fun kid stuff. They’d be missing out on a huge part of pop culture for one thing.
Children today are tyrants. They contradict their parent, gobble their food, and tyrannize their teachers …..
i also hate school meetings and i know sometimes those meetings help to impruve their education but most of the times just stupid people talks about same thing throw hours…
i love my kids but i wont go again, my wife its more patient.
